Williamstown Musical Theatre Company Inc is seeking a person of colour to complete the casting for their upcoming November 2025 production of Cruel Intentions: The '90s Musical, which will be performed over a three week season from Friday 7 November to Saturday 22 November at the Altona Theatre.


ABOUT THE ROLE:

RONALD CLIFFORD
(Lead, Person of Colour, Male, Stage Age 20-25)

Charming, principled, and emotionally intelligent. Ronald is a man of depth and talent navigating the rarefied and treacherous social circles of Manhattan's elite, where sincerity is currency easily devalued.

From a modest background, he’s ambitious yet grounded, finding himself unexpectedly entangled in a dangerous game of manipulation, lust, and betrayal. His romance with Cecile Caldwell seems innocent—but in the hands of Kathryn and Sebastian, becomes weaponized. Ronald’s presence brings a sense of dignity and warmth, making his eventual descent into chaos all the more tragic.

Character Notes:
Must exude quiet strength, romantic vulnerability, and simmering intensity.

Vocal Style:
Warm, expressive, soulful. Must have strong pop/rock vocal chops with emotional depth. Should be able to deliver both tender ballads and emotionally charged duets.

Movement:
Basic stage movement; dance training a plus but not essential.

We are committed to authentic casting. This character was originally written for an African American actor. We would like to encourage all artists who identify as Black and/or People of Colour to audition for this role.


AUDITIONING:

Should you wish to audition for the role we have some dialogue and music we would like you to review in advance to be able to present to the Production Team on the day.


INFORMATION & REQUIREMENTS

  • Performers must be 18 years of age or over at the time of your audition

  • Rehearsals are held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7.00pm to 10.00pm and Sunday afternoons from 12.00pm to 5.00pm. You are not required at all rehearsals as these a scheduled out in advance. Rehearsals have already commenced.

  • There may be a requirement to start some Sunday rehearsals from 10.00am. 

  • Cast are required to attend all rehearsals during production week - Sunday 2 November to Thursday 6 November, 2025.

  • Performance dates are from Friday 7 November to Saturday 22 November 2025.
